I am running iOS 18 on my iPhone 14. RCS is enabled but does not work when messaging my Android phone. I have RCS running on my Android phone and works fine between other Android phones. My iPhone is on the Verizon network while my Android is on T-Mobile. I've tried disabling/enabling RCS on my iPhone a number of times as well as rebooting. Any other suggestions?

Downloaded the ios update and no options for RCS in message settings
I was previous on Android and my carrier O2 supported RCS
But since this update nothing at all
It's one of the reasons that made me chose this phone over another android becuase with the promice of RCS I could message my friends and family
No idea what's gone wrong but I'm very disappointed
I don't know where the fault lies. I can accept Apple might not be responsible and I actually really don't care who is. I just want it to work.

It doesn't matter what the recipient is on. My actual device will use RCS for a while and then it will stop. This is verified by Settings > About > ESIM Carrier. Tapping that shows what is enabled. It will say RCS when RCS is enabled and just Voice & SMS when it isn't.
Most of this has nothing to do with my situation. Like I've said, my device will not hold on to RCS for very long when it gets it and then it defaults back to SMS. I suppose it could be an issue with T-Mobile. I haven't contacted them so far because their support tends to take a long time to talk to and in my experience, they tend not to know anything.

I've just got off the phone from O2 UK
They have not got RCS messages enabled at the moment but it's coming soon
I agree @fuzzylobes there’s something else going on.
Note also that even if your carrier supports RCS in iPhones, it may take a day or two for the update to your provisioning to be pushed out to your phone.
Same here. Super annoyed. But what’s weird is…when I text my mom’s android phone it uses RCS but when I text my husband’s Android it doesn’t show RCS it just says SMS.
From Google's site: "You must have Android 5.0 or higher for RCS chats to work." It's practically all! But not all Android phones have it enabled!
RCSis active on my phone. However, some messages/recipients I have the option to send later but others don’t. Is this due to carriers?
Go to your iMessage settings do the following
Turn iMessages off
Turn RCS off
Turn iMessage on, wait for it to connect
Turn RCS on
Should fix your issue of not working, did for all my iPhones
that might be a work around, but it’s no fix.
Fix, work around.. Either way is working
Your seeing that some phone contacts don’t have the ability to do RCS chats means their carrier or their phone is not capable of RCS messaging.
This is exactly what I needed to do to get RCS working on my 16 pro max on the T-Mobile network. Thanks!
Definitely a carrier issue at one end or the other, not your iPhone 12.
