Copying a value from one sheet to another

I want to use the value in a cell in another sheet. Since the value changes often, I can’t just copy and paste the number from one sheet to the next.

Do you know how to use references in Numbers?

Any cell in any table on any sheet can reference any other cell on any other table on any other sheet. You just need to tell Numbers where to look.

By default, numbers will use the shortest reference possible, so if you set a cell, say B1 to:

=A1

Then numbers will reference the cell A1 in the same table.

If you want to reference a cell on a different table on the same sheet, specify it's name in the format:

=Table 1::A1

This will get the value of cell A1 in the table called 'Table 1'.

If you want a table on a different sheet, just prepend the sheet name:

=Sheet 2::Table 1::A1

Will reference the cell A1 in Table 1 on Sheet 2

(obviously, adjust the sheet and table names as appropriate for your setup).

The only gotcha is that the sheets have to be in the same workbook. There is no support in Numbers for linking across different documents.
