I'm running Monterey 12.7.2 on a 2018 iMac. I have tried numerous times to download and install the latest update for Monterey. All seems to be done correctly with restarts. When it looks like it is finished, I still see 12.7.2 as the OS. Have others had this problem? Should I just update to OS 13 and forget about it? Do I try to install in safe mode? Thanks

Check out System Report>Software>Installations.
n Disk Utility>View, select Show all Devices, highlight the top left entry.
Run Disk First Aid on all items in the left panel, from top down.
Are you running any VPN, Anti-Virus, or Cleaning apps?
We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

As I recall the cure was uninstalling AV ware & reinstalling the OS.

Is the Internal Drive of this 2017 iMac an Apple Original Drive or possible an After Market Drive ?

Hi BDAqua...do you remember what the solution was back then? I'm not even showing it as being installed at all.
Don't just discontinue but delete completely according to the developer's instructions. They leave files buried in the system that continue to run even though you quit the app. Nasty little devils.
I think the report is ready. Hope someone can find something. I have not used recovery mode yet for the first aid.
