move iTunes playlist from computer to USB

Is the best technique to create a new music library on the usb, with the usual settings of copy music to the library location. Set the file location on the usb. Then open the empty library on the usb and drag music from your computer onto the usb library. Folders, songs and artists should show as usual, all based on the usb. Then create playlist as usual and drag music within the usb folders to the playlist. The usb should then function in your car or anywhere as a self-contained music library.
