Are prescription inserts available only for distance vision on Apple Vision Pro?

They mention a number of types of prescriptions that might not be available, such as if your prescription has a "prism" value. Also, the prescription has to be for glasses, not contacts.

They have a lot of caveats re: the prescription should be single page and shouldn't include other information, e.g. "Intermediate distance, task distance, or computer distance should not be part of that prescription" so it sounds like there may be software involved in scanning the prescription and maybe there is something about yours that needs human intervention.

Probably makes sense to open a case with Apple and see if you can get connected to someone at ZEISS who can cut to the chase re: why your order can't be processed.

FWIW, my other half is severely near-sighted and they were able to fill his prescription.

Or am I misinterpretting "Prescription is for near or reading vision only" and what it means is that you are far-sighted?

I actually had the same exact problem. I ordered prescription reading inserts as part of the Vision Pro order. I then received the same error message that you got.

I called Apple, but the people I spoke to didn't know what the issue was. They transferred me to ZEISS; their reps said that they didn't make prescription reading inserts, only (non-prescription) "readers" or distance vision prescription inserts. Which makes no sense as the Apple website explicitly states that prescription reading inserts can be ordered. The ZEISS website let's you check if your prescription values are supported:

When I put in my prescription, ZEISS tells me: "ZEISS Optical Inserts are available for you."

After my first call to Apple I followed up a week later (on February 4). Again, nobody at Apple knew what was going on, and the ZEISS rep I spoke to again told me that they didn't make prescription reading inserts.

I eventually "solved" the problem by abandoning my plan of buying the Vision Pro.

By the way: I documented the problem in great detail and left feedback for Apple. I included my email address and phone number and explicitly asked Apple to get back to me so I could clarify the problem for them.

This was two weeks ago, but nobody from Apple ever followed up with me.
