Here's the simplest approach when it comes to shut down the Apple Vision Pro:

  • Press and hold the Digital Crown and top button together until the Power Off slider appears. Now look at the slider and swipe the slider to the right by performing a pinch gesture
  • Go to Settings > General > Shut Down. Now look at the Power Off slider icon and drag it to the right followed by a pinch gesture.
  • Finally, command Siri to power off your Apple Vision Pro.

To restart the same:

  • Press and hold the top button on your Apple Vision Pro for a few seconds. As an Apple logo appears on the screen, let the buttons go. Your Vision Pro will turn on in a bit.
  • If you ended up disconnecting your Apple Vision Pro from the power, put it back to charge. Wait for a while until it has enough battery to respond. Your Vision Pro will turn on automatically.

Thanks, @Zedairder. No duration of holding the top button works for me.

Only disconnecting and reconnecting the battery works for me.

So if top button is supposed to work to power it on, how long do I need to press the top button?

Until I see the screen light up?

I already tried holding the top button for a minute, so I am skeptical.

Thank you, that did work. The problem was I was not waiting long enough after shut down before trying to power it back up. Hopefully in the future Apple will put a “Restart” option there.

Not that I think it should be necessary to restart on a regular basis, but I’ve had to do it a few times.

Once before I learned how to force-quit an app, and another time while testing out a non-working Accessibility feature and I wanted to know if restarting the device might help (it didn’t).

Thanks again!
