Gmail is blocking its own accounts

One of my gmail accounts accessed thru Apple Mail on my iMac running High Sierra. The account just went offline one day and I can't get it back online. I get error screens telling me to enter my password to edit it but with no place to enter it. None of the basic taking it offline clicking the lightning bolt cures do anything.

While inconvenient, a work-around idea would be to choose

a supported web browser and login to your google accounts.

Maybe only one? exists that'll work now. Fewer going ahead.

Firefox is no longer supported on macOS 10.14 and below.

"Please download Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) to use Firefox."

[Download -link- Firefox ESR]

Firefox ESR is an exception. ESR version 'allows Firefox' past new limits.

[And 'Brave browser' limits use to above Catalina 10.15.7.]

Safari was able to use 'self-certify Certificates' to access outdated sites.

[An older system that already runs previous supported browser, might

still see few years more use. Lets Encrypt was path to use El Capitan.]
