How to import image files into blank slides?

I'm clear about dragging multiple files into Keynote's Thumbnail bar to populate each image per slide, but how to avoid each slide being generated with text elements? Even if under Format I switch the Slide Layout to Blank, each new slide inherits these default text blocks, e.g. "My Presentation, etc. There must be a simple way to avoid having to delete all the text blocks. Thanks.
