In this new version of Word, when I want to edit a word, the tool blanks out the word and more and I can't see what I am doing!
Can I get back to the old way which just highlighted the text I want to change?
Word v16.80 on Sonoma 14.2 uses the System Settings : Appearance : Highlight color to illuminate a word when you double-click the word. Try a restful green that leaves the text to be edited quite clear:

And, of course my old version won't load into Ventura.
From what I had seen before the Mods Edited the posting.
This computer does not qualify to run macOS 13 Ventura.
So in effect, most of the existing issues become moot
editing in microsoft word for mac 16.76.1
