how can i make siri read out an outgoing text before sending it

To have Siri default to reading back a dictated message go to Settings > Siri & Search > Announce Notifications, then turn off the Reply Without Confirmation option.

Once that is turned off, anytime you use Siri to send a message while the device is locked it will default to reading back the message before sending it.

If that setting was turned off, it is expected that it will not always read it back to you. After turning it on, you will need to use the phone normally for a bit and see if works as expected.

If it does not, try to restart your phone. While this may seem like a simple step, it allows the software to shut down correctly and clear the app state of all software on the phone. This allows it to start up fresh which can fix many unexpected behaviors.

I turned my phone off and back on but it did not rest set the read back before sending the text.

I tried changing the settings and it didn’t work for me. Then I kept scrolling and found your recommendation to also restart my iPhone afterwards, and it worked. Sometimes simple steps do matter. I’ve been trying to fix this forever and now it’s finally fixed. Thanks!
