Can't drag the cursor up in text messages on new iphone 15 Pro iOS 17

I’m on IOS 17.1.2 and still the issue occurs

I’m unable to move my cursor to correct or change text on a long text message. I’m not sure at what stage it stops allowing me. Have tried switching phone off and still issue occurs

You would think that Apple would respond and resolve this issue. I just came off 5months using android and missed my iPhone however I’m missing the bug less android now. iPhone 12 and iPhone 15 still exhibiting the same defects

Agree. I’m usinf iPhone 15 latest iOS and this functionality defect is frustrating . For the cost of this phone and the issues I’m experiencing with brand new phone I’m extremely disappointed - phone or iOS it really isn’t acceptable

This is absolutely a frustrating bug. I am not sure why Apple started moving the screen around on people trying to

text. And, yes, now we can’t move the cursor to the beginning. It is so frustrating that these tech developers keep over-developing and controlling what the user is trying to do. Apple, Facebook, Google etc etc, keep controlling and intruding. Just Keep it simple and let people use without frustrating us !!!

I’m having the same issue as others, not being able to move the cursor up in longish text messages to edit. Very, very frustrating. Did not have this problem in the past. I have the iPhone 15, 17.1.2.

What has Apple said about this.

I’ve been having same problem & finally found this thread! It’s so frustrating. For me, it’s not just a view issue, it really won’t let me scroll up and do any edits. Wherever the cursor is, is where I can type. I’ll report problem, too. It’s been going on for months, before I updated to ios17

I agree!! Since I updated to IOS 17, I do not like how it works when I want to change or correct the word. If u tap on the word this curved arrow pops up, and like she said, it gives letters that aren’t even a word or deletes it or moves the word to a random spot. I want the way it was done before ios17.

This really simply should not be a thing. A company as big as Apple with as much money as Apple should be able to quality test software updates. Especially when they also manufacture and control the hardware. There is absolutely zero excuse for these kinds of bugs.

I found that both these suggestions work. #1 is slow. #2 is awkward. But, they work. Most things with Apple seem to work pretty well so I'm surprised they haven't fixed this glitch yet-it's been at least 2 months.

Exactly! It wastes lots of time trying to do a normal edit and almost always unsuccessful with the location of the “landing” or “touchdown” of the cursor! We shouldn’t have to dread attempting to make a change, even being forced to first write our texts using NOTES.

BTW I have always hated having only the one-way arrow. One more directional arrow has always been needed if Apple users will be honest.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It’s an iOS issue, apparently, not a hardware problem. It is driving me nuts, and I have tried all the usual approaches to resolve it. Apple has GOT to get on this…

I’ve been having the same problem forever It seems with the cursor. It seems like such an easy fix for Apple. Why has this not been fixed? There should be no reason to have workarounds. It’s the most basic function.

Agree, the texting issue is a HUGE problem. It’s my main source of communication and now I have to send multiple texts - when one would do.

Thank you so much for this suggestion!! It’s a long process, but it’s less frustrating than realizing you made a mistake at the top of a long text and not being able to fix it! At least it’s possible to edit a long text the way you described until this problem is fixed.

I am having the same issue with the curser not staying at the top of a long message. I have long reports at work that I have to copy and paste then go back and change values daily. I have had to go back to using an old iPhone 6 to send my daily reports at work instead of my new phone because of this. I don’t have time to retype all the data every day. I hope the get this fixed soon.
