iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera Blurry and Out of Focus

I am experiencing the same. It's very disappointing. I'm sorry that you all are having the same issue, but I'm glad it's not just me. I keep hoping that the software updates will resolve it. Has anyone gone to the Genius Bar or contacted Apple support?

You need to have a pet or human face in focus for that f symbol to appear. Otherwise it won’t come up. But this thread is about post processing of general photos where there are no humans or pets in focus.

I took my 15 pro max to Apple today unfortunately they asked me to wait for the new patch. I do hope it will fix the issue. Regret that I’ve sold my 13 pro max. It was probably the best iPhone camera.

This is happening only if you want to use ProRAW which is only meant for editing, and editing is very difficult, so it's not meant to be easy. The easy peasy camera comes if you use a 12MP lens or less like a 9MP but you still need to use the depth of field, or easier if you use a different iPhone like an iPhone SE or an iPhone 13, in fact I noticed that many are regretting having bought a 15 pro max instead of a 13

Has this been fixed? I just tried taking a close up photo on my iPhone 15ProMax and it was super blurry. Looked grainy and there was no focus option. The photo came out super super grainy too. My Samsung 20Ultra at least had a focus option. What gives?

Not yet. Apple told me to wait for the patch. However, it isn't in the next patch scheduled to release next month. We have to wait for much longer. This is totally unacceptable from the richest company on the planet.

I guess that I'm just another voice in the wilderness of new iPhone 15 Pro Max owners stuck with a lousy camera. I upgraded from an iPhone 13 Pro and have absolutely *nothing* good to say about the iPhone 15 Pro Max camera. I'm seeing erratic color rendition, grainy texture, and fuzzy images pretty across the entire photographic spectrum. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this alleged upgrade and hope that Apple finds the fix very soon.

I am so annoyed too! I upgraded from the iPhone 11 after photographer Peter McKinnon hailed the new iPhone 15, and the images are worse than the 11 which was bad with the front facing camera. The 15 has maybe cured me of selfies - because they turn awful after internal processing despite looking great on screen before. No WYSIWYG. (Or I have to use the side volume button to do multiple shots that would bypass processing but isn’t the easiest button to access for photo taking.) But worse, is that these supposedly amazing lenses are producing soft, blurry and grainy images. Nothing is tack sharp. Do i send the phone back? Is it just a bad one? That’s what led me to this post - I guess it’s not just mine!!!

I thought for sure I’d waited long enough that the 15 would have improved the terrible 11 front facing lens. Instead, it’s worse across the board. I only upgraded for the cameras!!

I always text my fiancée a lot while watching Netflix in my bedroom, so the atmosphere in my room is consistent and always the same. The videos I’m sending through my iPhone 15 pro are significantly more worse than my 13 promax. The front facing camera is blurry, and occasionally it tries to auto focus during the video giving a small warp effect. What an absolute disgrace

I haven't even tried the front camera but it seems everything is bad with all the cameras. And not a word from Apple. I changed for another unit but same crap. Haven't taken one good picture with it. The 12 and 12 Pro Max took good pictures almost whatever you did to them.

I recently traded in my 12 pro for the 15 pro. The camera is definitely worse. I noticed how poor some of my images come out. I was at a wedding where the venue was a little dimly lit. All night every photo came out grainy, blurry and nothing like the quality shots I’d get on my 12 pro. What a let down. Not good Apple. Not good.

I have a 15 pro and I’m seeing poor quality in the selfie camera, in the sense that the videos I send via telegram are vastly inferior to the ones I sent using my older 13PM.

the conditions I set are always the same, always from my bedroom while lying down on my bed watching tv, and the difference is noticeable.

In general there is much noise in pics taken with selfie camera in poorly lit rooms. My 13PM was a beast. Never ever had a problem. The 15 pro sucks.

Same! Experiencing many different issues with my iPhone15, even after taking it to the store to have it diagnosed and reinstalled. So disappointed with camera especially. I can’t believe for the cost of this phone, and my expectation of quality from Apple, that this iPhone15 has been such a regrettable purchase. Going to see what I can do to find a better phone, which is all a frustrating waste of time and money.

To handle a camera, you need a really good processor.

My iPhone 15 pro max feels like a downgrade compared to my iPhone 13 Pro in terms of camera quality. Pictures look grainy and not as sharp. Hope this is just a software issue and not a hardware issue. I thought it was the lens camera cover so I took that off and still the same.
