iCloud Photos shows 147GB but photos on the device shows 7GB. What's going on? Are those multiple backups of the same photos? How can I have iCloud backup keep the last backup only (if that's the issue)?
This is driving me insane!
You can delete on any connected device. If you sync with iCloud and delete a photo on your phone, it will also delete from iCloud and any other connected device. Same if you delete from iCloud; those items will delete off your phone.
Do you optimize storage on device? Settings > Photos. If you do, you're seeing the difference.
Optimize is on. Will turning it off keep my photos and free up that space?
Turning it off will download the original photos from iCloud and use around 150GB on your phone. When you optimize, your originals are kept in iCloud and optimized photos remain on device.
So I have to log into iCloud and delete photos/videos from there?
