Playing music in HomePod via a Scene wakes Apple TV

If your Apple TV is powering on when running a scene on your HomePod mini, this may be because the Apple TV is set up as a home hub. If this is the case, these steps from Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub can help resolve unexpected issues:

If your home hub isn't working as expected

* Check that your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad is up to date. 

* Make sure that the user signed in to iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV is the primary Home app user, and not an invited user. 

* Turn on iCloud Keychain and two-factor authentication for your Apple ID.

* Check that the device that you set up as a home hub is in your home, connected to your home Wi-Fi network, and powered on.

If this continues after following those, test to see if this issue still occurs when you go to Settings > AirPlay and HomeKit and disabling the Home Hub section on your Apple TV. That will allow us to narrow down what's happening more.

Theres quite a few scenarios that might be triggering this. The main one where this issue first arose is when the HomePod is set to default audio on the ATV 4k. It doesn’t sound like you’ve linked this HomePod to an Apple tv in another room but now it might happen if it was last used or is being used with another HomePod that is. It happens with mine randomly. You can’t put it to sleep without stopping your music on HomePods. Hopefully this is being addressed in tvOS 17 which should be released soon (possibly next week). See if this helps once you’ve updated the software. If not, submit feedback again.

Have you already been able to solve the problem? 
I have a similar problem and that is that my Apple TV is the brain of the house and 
is not able to play music on any device if it is in sleep mode. For it to work I have 
to turn on the APPLE TV and the television. It's quite annoying. My scenes to play music 
at different times or depending on automations do not work.

I have the same experience. If I tap my phone to homepod to transfer music, it starts up the Apple TV.

I had my Apple TV and Homepod configured in the same room earlier, moved them to different room but that did not help.

If the apple TV remains turned off, homepod does not play any music although the Home app shows music playing.

I temporarily got this to work by disabling airplay on Apple TV but this can't be the solution.

I checked my Apple TV and homepod are updated.

Is there something I am missing to get this fixed. I need airplay to work on my TV and I would like to play music on homepod without powering on the Apple TV

I had the same issue and I believe it was because I had added the Apple TVs to the Home app first. After adding the Homepod any scene would trigger the AppleTVs to turn on. To fix this I removed both of my AppleTvs from the Home app and then added them back. This fixed the problem for me. The AppleTVs are no longer triggered when starting a scene. Hope this helps.

Hi, this doesn't work for me because the Apple TV is the controlling brain of my home app. I don't have HomePod but SONOS.
