Would this be your iPad Passcode, or AppleID Password?
A forgotten or unknown iPhone/iPad passcode cannot be recovered - and neither can it be reset or modified from another device. If you see a waiting period you can wait and try again to input the correct Passcode; otherwise, the iPad must be restored.

If you see one of the messages the support document you posted from points out, then follow the steps in the support document to restore the iPad and set a new passcode.
There's no way around that at this point.

If you take the time to read the comprehensive replies already provided within this thread, you'll find your answer. 🙂
I don't know if you've had the problem resolved, but here's what I've shared from my experience, and I hope it helps.
If the passcode is correct, and your device keeps saying that this passcode is incorrect, then it's likely that your iPad has some sort of operational glitch
I had a similar problem with my iPhone 13 once, and gave me a hint: Hey! Maybe my passcode is the right one and this is just a system error!
I then restarted the device and waited patiently for the timer to expire, tried my passcode again, and the result was that I turned on my iPhone 13 without any problem.
If rebooting doesn't work, I think updating to the latest iOS or iPad OS might solve the problem.
