Hey there owodekfd,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

Just to confirm, when resetting your AirTag did you repeat the steps 1 through 5 a total of five times in the 'Related Article', How to reset your AirTag, as stated:

Here's how to reset your AirTag:
1. Press down on the polished stainless steel battery cover of your AirTag and rotate counterclockwise until the cover stops rotating.
2. Remove the cover and the battery.*
3. Replace the battery.
4. Press down on the battery until you hear a sound. This sound means that the battery is connected.
5. When the sound finishes, repeat the process four more times, removing and replacing the battery, then pressing down on the battery until you hear a sound. You should hear a sound each time you press on the battery, for a total of five sounds. The fifth sound is different from the previous four. This indicates that the AirTag is now ready to pair.
6. Replace the cover by aligning the three tabs on the cover with the three slots on your AirTag.
7. Press down on the cover.
8. Rotate the cover clockwise until it stops rotating.

If so, when attempting to reset your AirTag, did you replace the battery with a new battery, or are you using the same battery that was previously in your AirTag? If you replaced the battery in the AirTag, did you ensure that the battery did not have a bitterant coating over the battery? We ask because, the bitterant coating on batteries may cause the battery to not work with your AirTag, depending on alignment of the coating in relation to the battery contacts.

If using the previous battery, try replacing the battery with a new one, follow the steps in the 'Related Article' once more, and let us know if that's able to help. If the issue persists after going through the steps above, are you trying to set your AirTag back up with the same Apple ID, or are you trying to set up the AirTag with a new Apple ID?
