Apple Studio Display bass is way too much

The bass is so over the top (and not in a good way) that I can't listen to anything without reducing the bass at 150Hz in the equalizer by half. If I don't the studio display bass is so loud that you almost can't hear any other frequency in some tracks because of this overbearing "wooo" sound.

Why has nobody brought this up?

I literally cannot properly play music on this display without an EQ.

Yes, everyone seems to have this problem. Apparently there is a fixed setting and macOS currently offers no software panel to adjust it.

One may use (= pay for) a third party sound output filter tool, but I haven't found anything that works properly and doesn't mess up system audio in the long run (clicking, delays, choppy playback).

It's kind of ridiculous that practically every cheap monitor with speakers now has integrated sound control, but with the precious Apple screen it seems to be an ideological question of principle.

Same here! I've just received mine last week, and whilst I do enjoy heavy bass - this makes a lot of music completely unlistenable. I have a wide range of genres in my music library, so jumping from R&B to metal the sound quality is INSANELY different. The highs/treble sounds really scratchy and I have to turn up the volume to hear the vocals on some tracks, but then the bass is SO loud.

I really hope apple release an update to try and rectify this because one of the points I made to get this was so I could remove my old speakers from my home office. I don't think it was this bad on my old 27" iMac.

Hey, I've the same issue. In fact I was searching in the net for other users with the same experience and I was surprised when everybody was praising the sound of the Apple Studio Monitors. The booming is ANNOYING. In my case the resonance point can be heard at 122 Hz.

Personally it makes the monitor audio useless.

Could somebody provide help with this?.

It also can depend on the space around your Studio Display. When I setup my display I had it in a room where the display sat closer to a wall behind it and bookcases on both sides. The bass was more than I would like with some music.

I now have it setup in another room further from a wall behind it and nothing on either side of it. Now I find that the bass can be lacking at times.
