Reminders App is suddenly unreliable

One of my favorite little features is the reminders app. I've been using it for years.

Lately I have to set all my reminders TWICE, because any reminder I set for the future sets itself to today at some random time in the past.

For example, I set myself a reminder for 10 PM tonight. As soon as I lock my phone, I get a notification and it tells me that my reminder is overdue and was due at 3:00 PM, hours ago. So now I go back in, set the time again, and it finally works.

Another example, I set a reminder for three days from now at 8:30 PM. Again, I get a notification, and my phone tells me that my reminder is overdue and was due today at 6 PM. Go back in, change the date and set the time again, and it finally works.

This happens with virtually every single reminder I set. I know I'm not setting them wrong, as this has been happening so consistently that I triple check everything before saving the reminder, and sure enough, it still happens.

I'll also randomly get notifications on my Apple Watch that a reminder is overdue. I check my phone, no overdue reminder on the phone, and I look at the reminder app and sure enough my phone says it is not due yet.

I don't use Siri because I am SO tired of it mishearing me, I manually enter all of my reminders.

I suspect this is an iCloud syncing glitch of some kind, but it is incredibly annoying and I'm about to just download a third party app for reminders. Has anyone dealt with this? According to the App Store reviews, I'm not the only one having issues with the Reminders app lately.

Maybe I'll just switch to a third party app and be done with it.

On your iPhone or iPad

Turn on Set Automatically in Settings > General > Date & Time. This automatically sets your date and time based on your time zone.

If you can't change the time or time zone on your Apple device
