The camera on your iPhone uses HDR (high dynamic range) in optimal conditions. Turn off HDR, and save HDR only photos in the camera settings.

Thanks for a rapid response. I can't find any mention of HDR in the settings nor in the Camera app. Why?
• My issue was that HDR is a misnomer for 'Dolby Vision HDR' (10 bits) whereas HDR is 8 bits for pictures.
• This confusing when switching between photo and video, it should be explained somewhere...
• How can I take plain, non-HDR photos?
