ventura keychain not remembering the new password

Just upgraded MacAir (2018) to Ventura 13.1. Enabled Keychain but it’s not remembering new passwords. Using “generate strong password”, you are unable to copy and then because it’s not remembering new passwords, your screwed. I have to use the keychain, select Password “no special characters” then copy it to Change the PW on a site and then I have it for next login in Keychain. A bit laborious. It seems to work fine on my MAC mini, however.
