Merging Apple accounts (IDs) or transferring data is not officially supported, nor can it be done easily or completely. Read the links below for things you may need to do to transfer as much as is possible.

If you have signed into the ID on two devices then fortunately when you sign out of one ID and sign in with a different one it asks you in most cases if you wish to retain the data from it on your device. Say yes and then delete individual items you do not want.

If another Apple ID is signed in you may need to enter the password for that ID to sign out of that ID first.

I'll just add that it sounds like you are in an unusual situation. I didn't even know that Apple IDs would be just names way back when (and my ID dates from 2004). If it is truly the case that you were obliged to create a second account then you may be able to ask Apple to help you with this.
Contact Apple. Click here --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
