Locked Into A Churning Situation

My new MacBook Pro is churning away after asking me to submit my password for iCloud. Nothing happens. It just sits there spinning and won't let me out! Please tell me how to get out of there so that I can move on. Incidentally, I'm in iCloud, so I don't know what the problem is! My System Settings page is grayed out and locked as well. Thanks for reading...I found the "force quit" button and now I can start over!

You can always force quit a shutdown by holding the power button/TouchID for ~6-10 sec.

Force Shut down your Mac.
