How to use different color besides green in "green screen"

Hello, I would like to set a different color to transparent besides green or blue. It seems like that should be a pretty easy thing to have. For example, I have videos with black background and I would love to have the black become transparent. I saw an answer on here from 09 saying it wasn't possible then. Maybe things have changed? Thank you.
