I have 2 pngs one imports fine the other will appear and then go black. I tried this but it didn't work. FCPX 10.6.1 png exporting with black back… - Apple Community
I've also tried:
Changing the project from HDR to SDR
Changing the file to a TIFF
Changing the exposure on the image
None of these seem to work

You can have as many versions on the system that will run as long as they have different names in the Applications folder and run different libraries. The current version will run from 4.10 to 6.4.
Open the PNG in Preview and export OpenEXR. Make sure alpha is checked. That works for me in 6.4.

Can you open the file in a graphics application that will give its complete specs or an app like MediaInfo and give details of what it says?

I can’t make it work in 6.2 either but the library was used by both 6.4 and 6.2. Use feedback to report the problem with details of the file format. It does work in a 5.4 library.
Yes. It works on Intel. It’s clearly a graphics issue in M series the way the image comes and goes.
Here is the png Im trying to use. I have another Mac running 10.6.2 and it works on there no problem.
As far as the info:

FWIW, I had no trouble importing that png into 10.6.4, and export as H264...
What could be different? I am using a 2019 16" MBP on Monterey 12.6.
