already unlocked through my carrier

im trying to unlock my iphone 6+. already went through my carrier and states im approved. my question is what are the following instructions as the apple servers need to update.

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 12

Make a backup of your iPhone (if you are keeping it), then Restore your iPhone as a NEW device (not from your backup). You should get a message, "Congratulations, your iPhone is now unlocked".
