Your 8 year old phone cannot be updated beyond 12.5.5. If you need a higher version of iOS you will have to get a newer phone. An iPhone 6S or later can be updated to iOS 15.6. An iPhone 8 or later will be able to update to iOS 16 when it is released in Fall (northern hemisphere fall, that is).
