Unknown app using my data

I think someone is using app developing as a way to access my phone without my permission. I’ve had a very large number of things happen that lead me to this conclusion. Today I’m just trying to figure out if anyone else has an app show up under cellular data called astronomy? It never actually has used any data since I noticed it. But there is no app for it that I can open. I’ve searched the store and google for it too with no luck.

On the other hand I have had iTunes eating my data for the last 3 or 4 days. I’ve still getting progressively worse. I reset my data statistics 4 hours ago and have already went through 1gb of data!

I don’t have iTunes downloaded on my phone. My diagnostics doesn’t go to app developers and it just in the last 2 or 3 days started sucking my data dry. I don’t use Siri. I have my push notifications turned off for everything except texts. I don’t use iCloud either and my backups for it are all turned off.

none of it makes sense. I have NEVER went through this much data this fast. Even the things I use frequently seem to be using more data than normal. I’m not actually sure of that though

I totally agree this is insane my Privacy has been invaded now since 2015 or longer. My iPhone shows my other devices as android I do not own a Android. And to take it to another level I found all my personal devices on my work computer. To include smart tv’s, echo dots, 5 laptops, personal security system, my AT@T cell and satellite my spectrum internet provider, bank all my personal emails. And I’ve gone through 10 different cell numbers along with resetting my iPhone and there right back! I’m being locked out of my own personal paid account. Let me add I’m no longer employed by the employer that my personal data was on…heck they change my password on my apple account?? It’s insane and a Privacy Violation along with Cyber Security invasion which is a federal crime.

Me too. My new Apple 14 always feels hot. I turn about everything off possible. Why does Big Tech make us go through the pain staking task of turning off every possible new bell and whistle. FB and apple are repeat offenders. They constantly do updates which then you have to go through randomly and double check stuff I turned off. It’s not ok for big tech to track, listen and watch our every move. If they are not careful and edit themselves - the world population will wise up and demand change! Enough already. What is this astronomy thing…I found it the same way under cellular data! Freaks me out when I see that. I am constantly checking my phone for spam and spyware!

You know what? You’re not alone in this in the least if that’s any consolation for what you’re experiencing. The weird thing is that I’m going through the same things you are. Large amounts of data being consumed by something. There’s no way that I could use 15GB of data in than two weeks when all I try to use my iPhone 6se anymore for is texting and occasionally I’ll make a phone call. I believe that these push notifications are a bunch of 🤬 and I think you have your suspicions right on time with what we’re experiencing. No one,and I repeat no one should be allowed access to your phone and I was under the impression that Apple stood by that policy thus having one of the largest client base out of all services out there. Thank for your coming out on public forum with your issues and hope you get an explanation of what this invasion of privacy is all about and who is to be held accountable for such? Of course this probably won’t reach the forum for others to read but I’ll see soon enough! 9-17-23
