Unknown app using my data

I think someone is using app developing as a way to access my phone without my permission. I’ve had a very large number of things happen that lead me to this conclusion. Today I’m just trying to figure out if anyone else has an app show up under cellular data called astronomy? It never actually has used any data since I noticed it. But there is no app for it that I can open. I’ve searched the store and google for it too with no luck.

On the other hand I have had iTunes eating my data for the last 3 or 4 days. I’ve still getting progressively worse. I reset my data statistics 4 hours ago and have already went through 1gb of data!

I don’t have iTunes downloaded on my phone. My diagnostics doesn’t go to app developers and it just in the last 2 or 3 days started sucking my data dry. I don’t use Siri. I have my push notifications turned off for everything except texts. I don’t use iCloud either and my backups for it are all turned off.

none of it makes sense. I have NEVER went through this much data this fast. Even the things I use frequently seem to be using more data than normal. I’m not actually sure of that though

Also when the iOS 15 beta software came out my boyfriend told me about it in front of another person. Later we both went to check it out and she didn’t have one available. Only I did. After a few google searches I learned that beta software comes out exclusively first and then a public version follows. And I also was surprised to find that after I mysteriously have developer privileges I also have access to a whole world of information I didn’t have before. Like my phones data logs… that **** actually makes sense. There ACTUALLY is logic behind the chaos! I have googled bits from my data logs a million times almost always with the same answer. They can’t be read by humans. Now when I google bits from my analytics I get actual answers with real information but still not enough

So I believe I’ve learned more about the astronomy app under Cellular in Settings. After the last update, there are several Apple wallpapers that require some data use. I went to my wallpaper options and found it, so I’m not so worried about it now. You don’t have to use the Astronomy wallpaper. Hope it sets some minds at ease for those who haven’t discovered it’s use or reason for its presence under your Cellular under Settings.

Yes, this was explained on the first page of this thread.

I keep close track of my cellular app list, and this Astronomy app was not there before I upgraded to iOs 16. I can’t find the app in my App Library, although my phone is set to show all apps in the Library. Not happy at all about Apple’s lack of transparency re: this thing. Obviously, more than iphone owner has discovered this Astronomy thing, so why the lack of an explanation??

Have you read the rest of the thread? Astronomy is a live wallpaper.
