13 inch macbook pro display backlight service

Dear Apple support team,

My name is Krishna & For a long time, I have been using multiple apple products like MacBook pro-13-inch and 15-inch, iPhone, etc.

I bought MacBook 13 pro, 2016 model on 15th December 2016. But recently(a few months ago) I started facing screen-related issues “Display backlight continuously or intermittently shows bright vertical areas along the entire bottom of the screen”.

After searching for this issue on the internet I found this issue is related to the apple product bug with the 2016 MacBook 13, which will be fixed by the apple support team without extra cost as mentioned in this post.

But when I connected to apple customer care, they told me this service program was valid for me till December 2021(5 years from my purchase date which is 15th Dec 2021) and now they can't help me with that and I have to pay for my screen repair/replacement.

I totally understand the above point, but my point is why apple decided on the service time period of 5 years, I can't predict if I will face this issue in my laptop within 5 years if apple thinks its bug is related to their product they should not include service timeline. I already invested a lot of money to purchase this laptop and now why should I spend more money to repair the  Model related issue? Is it really the way apple handles their loyal customers?

I request you to please help me with that.

It’s the longer of five years from the official purchase date or three years from the date this program started (May 21, 2019). So it’s already expired. There really isn’t anything that can be done other than perhaps you repair at your own expense.

You are not writing Apple Support Team. You are writing other users on this user to user only forum. No one from Apple is here. As other users only, we cannot speak for Apple or their service bulletin rules.

You can reach out to Apple via the Get Support button at the top of this page. Otherwise, there is nothing anyone here can do to help you.
