How can I upgrade my 2020 MacBook Air’s memory and storage from 256Gigabyteto 1Tarabyte

I bought this from my man that only had it one month at a good price. Little did I know that I am constantly filling up this drive. I can’t seem to work a program with an external drive I can only store over there, and I don’t want everything in the cloud. My personal files need to stay on my personal computer. So is there any way possible that I can upgrade to storage? I said above it’s a 2020 Macbook Air with the M1 chip. Anybody’s got a clue please let me know I am desperate for space.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.5

Thank you for taking the time to School me. There is just one more question. Can I Run a program from an external drive? I want to get Logic, but with all I have on this computer, there just isn't enough internal space for this size of the music files I will create and the array of sound files that come with Logic. This is a good macBook and it's fast, but I got it used and didn't realize the drive was so small. I wish I could just go out and purchase a new MacBook with a tara byte but I'm unable to do that at this time

If you can find a place that could do that, not likely you will, the cost would be prohibitive and the entire process would be risky at best. Not to mention voiding any warranties that are still in effect.

In the long run, if you are just dissatisfied with your Mac, you'll need to but a different one with the RAM and storage you feel you need.

Personally, I feel your money will be better spent on a pair of larger external HDDs. A pair because you need to backup up everything, not just internal drives.
