If your say green status light is on above your signal bars on an IPHONE XR, does this mean the app is actually listening and recording what your doing?

However I’ve just read thru apple support that this is probably an app and it can record your conversation , I got no reply about if using camera too can it or whoever or whatever this is take pics of you too?
A green signal means FaceTime I believe. It shown if that app uses camera, it doesn't mean its recording but it uses the camera!. I don't think it can record your screen without you knows it!
