iPod iTunes

I have a very old iPod (16 GB model MB531BT, 2nd gen) which has a number of tracks taken from my CDs and added to the iPod using iTunes.

I’d like to play these tunes on shuffle in my vehicle.

However, I can’t access iTunes on the iPod because an error message reads:

Cannot Connect to the App Store.

You must be connected to a Wi-Fi network to access the App Store.

I can’t get past this screen.

Now, my iPod screen is sligfhtly corrupt and it isn’t possible to use the bottom of the on-screen keypad to enter appropriate characters for a wi-fi network.

And anyway, I don’t actually want to access the App Store, my library only contains non App Store files.

Is it possible to bypass this and just get to the iTunes menu on my iPod?

You should not need to access the App Store in order to play music on the iPod, nor require the use of Wi-Fi for music that is on the device. Use the built-in Music player.

To get out of the "cannot connect" screen, restart the iPod. Perhaps that might fix the bottom of the screen issue. If it doesn't, I suggest that you try cleaning the screen to see if that fixes the bottom of the screen issue, but do not use standard cleaning solutions. Try a screen cleaning wipe or a slightly damp cloth. Do not use a wet cloth, which will almost certainly cause water to get into the iPod.
