With Finder active, cmd-shift-U

To get to Applications, cmd-shift-A.

You can add the Applications folder back into the Sidebar dragging it in or Finder Preferences, Sidebar tab.

You could also drag the applications folder to the right side of the Dock.

You also can drag just about anything to the Finder tool bar area: files/folders/Apps/images etc

Use the Command key if necessary...

For Utilities I use all the time, easy access—

I would add that pressing CMD+Comma while in Finder then going to the Sidebar tab and ensuring Applications is checked should be another way to fix it.

You can also launch Apps such as Keychain Access by pressing CMD+Spacebar and typing in Keychain and it should find Keychain Access pressing Return will open Keychain Access. This works for all Apps.
