I accidentally deleted a folder from "Documents." How do I recover it from an earlier back-up?

Yes, that's what I'm trying to do. I went to a back-up before the deletion, but I cannot find "Documents" anywhere. Given that it is a major folder on my MacBook Air, you would think it would be easy to find.
Sorry, but when I go to February 13 Time Machine backup and click on Documents, I get the current documents, not what was there when that back-up was done. I found home folder. Cannot get to older documents!
I guess I'm out of luck. Did that, and Documents for the February date did not in include what I'm looking for. Thanks for your help.
If you don't sync with iCloud, your Documents folder should be in the Home folder.
Navigate to your home folder, then enter Time Machine to restore the folder.
When you navigate to a specific date, you get the files present in the folder on that date.
