Transfer non-purchased music from iPhone 6s to SE

If the music is in your Music library on your iPhone it should be copied over if you use Quick Start when you set up the new iPhone.

No, you can't make it work like an MP3 player as iOS does not have user manageable file system. You can sync the songs from your computer or look to 3rd party software.

Only from computer to iPhone, not the other way round.

It started that way with the first ipod and never changed.

On the iPods, such as the Nano and the old Classic you could choose to manually manage your music and copy it back and forth plus there was 3rd party software to do this. With iOS there is 3rd party software that will let you move music from an iPhone to a computer. I haven't used anything that allows moving music manually from one iPhone to another.

Correct. We said the same thing.

That's true - I still have all my music collection sync'd from Mac to two iPod Classic 160GB and I forgot about that option (which I never used in all these years!)

Early on I did but later abandoned it and synced music instead. Since I have Apple Music I haven't synced in quite a long time.
