I broke my phone and got a new phone. How do I get my old pictures and contacts on my new phone?

iPhone XR, iOS 15
If you were syncing photos and contacts with iCloud, have you signed into Settings/Your Name using the same Apple ID, and in iCloud, turned Photos and Contacts syncing on? The photos sync is extremely slow. It could take several days or more for the photos to sync.
If you weren't syncing with iCloud, did you do the steps in the Related Article above?
