audacity big sur

I recently upgraded to Big Sur, and I want to use Audacity to make mp3, aiff, etc. files on my computer. How do I get the output from a tape recorder or turntable into the computer? I used to use iMic and Final Vinyl, but they don't work with Big Sur. Do I need an audio capture card? Can anyone suggest one that works with Big Sur?
