Wi Fi disconnect when connected to an External Monitor on my 2017 MacBook Pro 15"

Whenever I connect my monitor to my Macbook Pro 15" it stops the Wi Fi working, and as soon as I disconnect the monitor, the WiFi is perfect as if it had never had problems. This problem has only recently started and was fine until a month ago, and has worked fine for 4 years.

The Monitor is connected via the The monitor is connected via one of the USB-C Thunderbolt ports. The cable is a USB-C to Display Port on the Dell Monitor. I have just tied this one minute ago and it happens immediately. Is there some reset that can stop this happening?

We understand that you're experiencing Wi-Fi connection issues you connect your secondary monitor to your Mac. It sounds like you may be dealing with some wireless interference. For this, we'd recommend checking out Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference.


However, since you mentioned it was working previously, we'd also recommend resetting your SMC. You can learn how to do this from How to reset the SMC of your Mac.
