I recently subscribed to iCloud Music and had my MacBook and iPhone looking identical.
Noticing I had some duplicates of playlists, I deleted some of the duplicates. Now one of my playlists is on my MacBook but not on my iPhone. I tried duplicating it on the MacBook, but the duplicate doesn't sync either. I have also updated the OS on both devices.
Any ideas?

You've done some great troubleshooting steps so far. And, it looks like you've gotten through most of the steps in this article:
If songs are missing from your music library after you turn on Sync Library
We'd suggest following the step listed in the above article under the section titled "Turn Sync Library off, then turn it back on".

It's a good idea to be connected to power and Wi-Fi, so iCloud doesn't get interrupted while syncing your music back to your iPhone.

It solved the problem, but I had to turn off sync at both the MacBook and iPhone Music, then restart both devices. Then I resync'd the MacBook first to update the iCloud library, then turn on sync for the iPhone. Basically resetting everything.
It's working fine now. Many thanks.
