iPhone thinks I’m my husband

sometimes when I am texting, my phone switches over to my husbands name (no, we don’t share an Apple ID) so texts that I send him come right back to me...I have gone and looked at our names in contacts and they look to be correct.

You said when you send text to your husband it came right back.

This is a sign of sharing Apple ID.

Check both iPhones:

Settings > Messages >

Send & Receive >

You can receive iMessage to and reply from: >

  • make sure only your phone number and your Apple ID is listed and not your partner.

Start new conversation from: >

  • only your phone number is selected.


Text Message Forwarding >

  • make sure no device(s) from your partner is listed
