Is there a keystroke to insert the cursor into a selected cell in numbers?

Option return will place the insertion point in the cell with no indication of the line feed character that is the usual product of option-return.

Typing any character will enter the character AND show the insertion point in the selected cell.

Typing any character, then the delete (backspace) key will result in an empty cell displaying the insertion point.

How are you selecting the cell?

Once you have selected a cell, you can move the selection to another cell using the arrow keys.

In the example below, I started with B2 selected (but without the insertion point visible in the cell), then followed with the key stroke series listed below the image. ra, la, da refer to left arrow, right arrow and down arrow. Comas are separators in the list and are not typed.

Keystrokes: a, da, ra, b, ra, da, c, da, la, d, da, la, f, ra. da. f, ra, da, g, da, la, h, la, da, 1

command-arrow will move focus to the last cell in the direction of the arrow (from the selected cell, command-ra would select cell D10, or command-ua would select cell B1.

Option Return I think does what you are requesting.
