iPad unlocked then black screen buffer symbol

I’m having issues with my iPad. It’s only 3 years old.

With 95% battery I turn it on.

Type in my pass code.

it unlocks showing the home screen with apps.

It then goes black and keeps showing the swirling buffer logo....and nothing else.

if I reset it holding the home button and the power button it reboots.

i can type in the pass code.

it shows the Home Screen with apps.

Again it goes black with the swirling buffer logo.

if I connect it to my pc via iTunes it doesn’t stay on long enough for the iPad to connect or accept my pc as a trusted device.

Hard to do when it only unlocks for 2 seconds, then the the black screen and buffer logo appears straight away.

Nothing can be done in those 2 seconds.

If a restart or forced restart don't help you, something could have gone wrong during the latest update procedure.

I would try to install a fresh copy of iOS/iPadOS. To do this, create a full backup of your iPad (1), then restore it to factory settings (you need a computer to perform this step) and, in the end, set it up as new (2).

When done, restore data from your previously made backup (3).

Follow the instructions provided in these support articles:

(1) How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch – Apple Support

(2) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support

(3) Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup
