Which version of iPhoto do you have installed? The last update for iPhoto (iPhoto 9.6.1) has been released in 2015 for OS X 10.10.3 Yosemite. This version will run on any newer version of MacOS X, up to macOS 10.14.6 Mojave. If you have already iPhoto 9.6.1, there is no newer update. It should be able to run on macOS 10.13 High Sierra.

If you are seeing a message about "needs to be updated" when you launch iPhoto 9.6.1, you can dismiss and ignore it. It does not matter while you are running still macOS 10.13 High Sierra. It will only matter, if you ever upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina or later. Before you upgrade to a newer system version, migrate your photos from iPhoto to Photos for Mac, the successor to Photos. Photos for Mac comes preinstalled as a part of the system since OS 10.10.3. When you launch it, out will automatically create a new Photos Library from your most recently used iPhoto Library.
