How do I restore my Contacts from my iPad to my iMac?

After upgrading to Catalina on my iMac,I noticed my contacts had all disappeared. Now I need to know how to restore my Contact list, using my iPad.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Find out on the ipad (Settings, Contacts,Accounts) which email account your contacts are stored on and then ensure that account is in your Internet Accounts on the Mac with Contacts checked on.

If they are in iCloud account ensure you are signed into your iCloud account on thr Mac
