iTunes is acting up, music will not download?

So essentially I have an old iPod that I dug out of my storage, and so I needed to download some music to put on that iPod. But strangely iTunes refuses to download any songs. I do get my songs off of Apple Music, but I still use iTunes (It's up to date). I have an older MacBook Air so I have to run Sierra (also up to date). I would just like to know if anybody has any solution or workaround to this problem.

Hello Everett_Wold,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

We understand from your post that you would like to add music to your iPod but iTunes will not download any songs. If the music you are trying to sync to your iPod was downloaded from Apple Music you will not be able to sync this music to your iPod. Songs purchased from the iTunes Store that you have downloaded to your Mac can be synced to your iPod. What model iPod are you trying to sync music to?

Everett_Wold,

Is the music you are trying to put on your iPod shuffle, music you purchased from iTunes? What happens when you try to download music to iTunes? Do you receive an error message? If so, what is the exact error message you are receiving? This article has steps which may help you get your music downloaded:
