My Homepod is sometimes not responding via Siri and says my new iPhone 12 Pro Max is not connected. Why?

I'm not sure what I did, but eventually this sorted itself out. I am guessing that the HomePod was updating its software and therefore was unavailable. It's been smooth sailing after giving everything time to "settle in." Thanks
