Turning off ipad
I can’t seem to turn the iPad off with the button. I am able to turn it on with the button though.

To shut-down the iPad, you have to press and hold the top (sleep/wake) button until the slider appears (typically 10 seconds). Alternatively, you can initiate shutdown from iPad settings:
Settings > General > Shut Down
