Every time I open the notes app on my iPhone 11 Pro it opens “recently deleted” notes first

How come every time I open the notes app on my iPhone 11 Pro it opens “recently deleted” notes first? First there aren’t even any recently deleted notes in there and secondly it didn’t use to open this first. It used to just open the last note I had edited which was fine. I don’t understand what happened I know this may sound small to some as it’s only a few taps to get back into my most recently edited note but it’s driving me insane... any help would be greatly appreciated. Ps. I keep everything up to date at all times... iOS, apps etc.

Hello planetcanada,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. From your post, it appears that the Notes app automatically goes to Recently Deleted. We'll do what we can to help.

While there is no setting to control this, make sure to check the settings if you're accessing Notes from your Lock Screen in Settings > Notes > Access Notes from Lock Screen.

Before starting your next note or opening the app again, try restarting the iPhone: Restart your iPhone

Best regards.
