Buying a product from Amazon does not mean that it came directly from Apple, and likely it was fullfilled by an Amazon reseller that may have wanted to get rid of a known defective keyboard. Nothing to prevent that, and even Apple has a certain (small) percentage of defective products, as does any manufacturer.

If it is faulty, return it for a replacement.
