How do I activate an alert tone on my iPhone when I receive a message from Facebook messenger

Go to settings and scroll down until you see Facebook messenger. Click it and then select ‘Notofications’. Make sure that sounds are turned on.
Thank you it works. The sound is a Ding. Is there a way to change the sound to something else. I am hard of hearing.
To my knowledge it is not possible to change the notification sound of a third party app on an iDevice.
